Art with a Heart Internship
I was required to reach 120 hours in an internship for college, and I chose to work at Art with a Heart, a non-profit organization in Baltimore, MD. I specifically worked in the Heartwares branch, which was an art store where I got to design products to sell. In addition to this, I also designed packaging, created decorations for the store, helped set up community art events, and helped design a lesson plan for high school design students.
This experience left me with a newfound knowledge of what goes into creating different products. There were deadlines that needed to be met for certain products or decor since I was working with seasonal material for holidays like Halloween and Christmas. I worked independently a lot, but I also worked with groups when we had a large number of designs to make. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at this internship, working with the team, and helping enrich the community through art.
